614 Kapahulu Ave. Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii
(Located in da Prudential Locations Bldg.)
While Markel and I were in Hawaii, we had a chance to meet up with his brother (who was out there for work) and he took us to this local joint that is incredibly difficult to find if you don’t know what you’re looking for. It’s basically hidden inside of the Prudential building. It felt pretty awesome to walk in knowing there was a local restaurant inside like a hidden gem.
The restaurant was quite large inside and we were seated and served right away. There was an extensive bar inside, but with the heat and humidity the three of us ordered water. The food was surprisingly spectacular. The service was friendly, the venue was clean and we found the experience incredibly positive and return-worthy.
Now…onto the food!
“SIDE STREET WORKS” FRIED RICE $15
Our Side Style Fried Rice with Lup Cheong, Kim Chee, and the rest of the goodies!
–Unlike any Fried Rice I had. It was a mix of Korean and Chinese~ but delicious nonetheless.
HOISIN OR LILIKO’I BBQ BABY BACK RIBS $18
Tender Pork Baby Back Ribs, Char-Broiled with a choice of either sauces
–AH-MAZZZEBALLS. The meat was incredibly tender, the sauce was super tastey and perfect for the meat and I could NOT get enough of this dish.
KAL BI (MARKET PRICE)
Char-Broiled, Korean-style Short Ribs accompanied with Kim Chee
The meat was incredibly tender and the sauce for the meat was, again, perfect. The kimchi wasn’t up to par~ but the delicious meat really made up for that.
My next visit to Hawaii, I wouldn’t mind trying more dishes and perhaps even a few cocktails =) Oh! And the dessert menu looked FABULOUS. Next visit I’ll remember to leave some room for it~ xoxo
