Takami Sushi & Robata Restaurant in Downtown LA

My girlfriends and I went out to dinner for a friend’s birthday a few weekends ago and it was one of the fanciest places I’ve been to in a while.  The food was tastey, the drinks were INCREDIBLE (better than the food actually) and we even saw a celeb!  (Jamie Pressly)

Overall, I’d say the food was too expensive compared to the portions~ but for our friend’s fabulous dirty thirty party~ it was fancy for the occasion.  What was also cool, was since we ate at the restaurant, we were given free entrance into Elevate Lounge which was just across the way.

Now…onto the food!

Arare Calamari, Tempura Calamari Filets covered in Japanese Arare Rice
Crackers served with a Curry Aioli Dipping Sauce

–hated this.  The rice on the outside was weird and overpowered the calamari.

Miso Chilean Sea Bass, Tender Sea Bass topped with a Champagne Yuzu Sauce

–The tastiest, most tender fish EVERRR.  The portion was ridiculously small but it was at least the most delicious thing I ate that night.

Salmon Roll, Salmon, Avocado, & Cucumber wrapped inside out

Spicy Tuna Roll, Spicy Tuna & Cucumber wrapped inside out

Spicy Yellowtail Roll, Spicy Yellowtail & Cucumber wrapped inside out in soy paper

–rolls were…aiite.

Oysters on the Half Shell, Fresh Seasonal Oysters served on Ice

Spicy Tuna on Crispy Rice, Crispy Rice Cakes topped with Spicy Tuna,
Avocado, & Jalapeno

Japanese Tacos, Gyoza Skin Filled with Spicy Tuna, Crab, Shrimp, and
Avocado topped with a Spicy Mayo Sauce

Now…the COCKTAILS were DELIIIICIOUS.  Here are my faves of the evening:

Endless Summer
Refreshing splash of 42 Below Vodka, Fresh Watermelon & Mint Leaves
Topped with Ginger Ale

Serrano Kiss
Elegant pour of Oxley Gin, with Fresh Lime Juice, Simple Syrup,
and Muddled Serrano Chili & Basil Leaves

Lychee Martini
Evenly balanced Grey Goose Vodka & Fresh Lychee Juice garnished with Lychee Fruit
