checked out Jon & Vinnys the week of their grand opening ( a few weeks back) and really enjoyed myself! there were a few small glitches or food faux pas but overall i really enjoyed myself and the dishes we ordered.
the aesthetics are chic, modern and very “LA”. the staff were incredibly attentive and friendly. each waiter also wore a unique shirt for the restaurant. ours had an adorable lady and the tramp shirt where they share a single string of pasta. very fitting since J&V’s is an italian restaurant. =)
the ladies and i ordered a LOT of dishes…
meatballs (each serving comes with 2)~~ really good. LOVED the ricotta it came with and the thick toasted bread.
Gem Salad–GEM LETTUCE, CALABRIAN CHILI DRESSING, PARMESAN, BREAD CRUMBS
(aka fancy caesar salad) one of my faves of the night. loved the crunchy breadcrumbs on top.
TAGLIATELLE, SIX HOUR BOLOGNESE, PARMESAN-really good, but came out kinda cold.
“LA WOMAN” Pizza: LOCAL BURRATA, TOMATO, BASIL, OLIVE OIL, SEA SALT
great doughy crust with light toppings. it was on the blander side but it was still good. i’d be interested in trying the margherita pizza on the menu and comparing the two.
BUCATINI CACIO E PEPE, LOTS OF BLACK PEPPER, BUTTER, PARMESAN–really good but the noodles were soggy =( i heard they were supposed to be chewy/al dente. =T next time…
Not Picture: SPICY FUSILLI VODKA, BASIL, PARMESAN & fingerling potatoes.
both were good but i probably wouldn’t order either again.
Finally…Dessert! Strawberry Cheesecake and Tiramisu. Cheesecake tasted normal (like any other) and the tiramisu had a heavy chocolate taste which i thought was really good.
the ladies =) i am ready to P-OP if you can’t tell… *sigh *
